As a Picton wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of documenting some of the most beautiful celebrations in Prince Edward County. Picton is a four-hour drive for me, but somehow I photographed four weddings there this year—and every single one was worth the trip. The first was Bree and Julian’s, and it’s a day I’ll always remember. Set between a charming family home, the historic St. Gregory’s Church, and a waterfront backyard overlooking Picton Bay, their wedding was the perfect blend of elegance, emotion, and personal touches.
The day started at Bree’s beautiful family home, an ideal setting for wedding-morning photography. The natural light filled each room as Bree and her bridesmaids got ready, creating timeless images full of laughter, anticipation, and quiet moments in between. Her dress, paired with long, lacy gloves, felt both classic and modern. Two of my favourite moments were her first look with her bridesmaids, followed by an emotional first look with her dad; both filled with reactions I’m grateful I had the chance to capture.
Their ceremony took place at St. Gregory’s Church in Picton, a warm and welcoming space that felt filled with meaning. The service was emotional from start to finish, and you could feel the love between these two as they exchanged vows. As someone who often photographs weddings across Prince Edward County, churches like St. Gregory’s are a treat—beautiful light, historic architecture, and an atmosphere that elevates every moment.
After the ceremony, Bree and Julian stepped out as newlyweds to cheers from family and friends. They drove away in Julian’s beloved Volvo XC70, complete with “Just Married” painted on the rear window; a personal detail that added so much character and charm to their story.
Back at the family home, guests were greeted with a backyard wedding cocktail hour overlooking Picton Bay. Parasols, white linens, and relaxed conversations set the tone for a garden-party atmosphere that felt both refined and effortless. With the water just steps away and the sun dropping low, it was one of those scenes that reminds me why backyard weddings can be so special; intimate, personal, and full of heart.
The reception took place under a beautifully decorated tent in the backyard. As the sun set, the space filled with golden light, heartfelt speeches, and unforgettable candid moments. You could truly feel the love surrounding Bree and Julian as their families and friends celebrated together. For a tented backyard wedding reception, this one had everything: warm ambience, stunning lakeside views, and emotion in every direction.
Their first dance was one of the most memorable I’ve photographed. The way Bree looked at Julian, soft, emotional, and full of admiration, is a look I won’t soon forget. Immediately after, Julian surprised the guests by joining his band on the balcony overlooking the dance floor. As he performed, the party erupted below, kicking off a night of music, energy, and celebration that felt uniquely theirs.
Bree and Julian’s wedding was the perfect reflection of who they are—warm, joyful, surrounded by family, and full of unforgettable moments. Photographing their day in Picton, from the emotional church ceremony to the waterfront celebration at the family home, was an honour.
