If you’re looking for the perfect example of a fun, high-energy Prince Edward County wedding, Kerissa and Patrick’s celebration at Waupoos Estates Winery was exactly that.
From champagne popping and cigar portraits to sunset vineyard photos and a dance floor that never slowed down, their wedding was the definition of a couple who just wanted to celebrate with their favourite people.
As a sometimes Picton wedding photographer, these are the kinds of weddings I love photographing; relaxed and completely authentic.
With an incredible waterfront ceremony, and one unforgettable party, their wedding day in Prince Edward County was packed with amazing moments.
The morning started a short drive away from the winery at The Waring House Restaurant and Inn, where Patrick and his groomsmen were getting ready.
The energy was already high. Music playing, ties being straightened, jackets thrown on — it had that perfect mix of excitement and anticipation before the day really kicked off.
Meanwhile, across from the winery, Kerissa, her bridesmaids, and her mum were getting ready in a charming farmhouse overlooking the venue grounds.
And things quickly turned iconic.
The bridesmaids piled onto the bed for some Vogue-style glam shots, laughing and celebrating the morning together. Soon after, everyone headed outside where the champagne started flowing — literally — with bottles popping and spraying in the summer sun.
On the front stoop, the groomsmen leaned back and smoked cigars like they were in a fashion editorial, creating some effortlessly cool portraits.
Already, it was clear this was going to be a wild and unforgettable wedding day.
One of the most beautiful moments of the day happened before the ceremony.
Kerissa and Patrick chose to do a first look on the winery dock, with the wide blue expanse of Lake Ontario stretching out behind them.
The dock at Waupoos Estates Winery is one of the most stunning spots for portraits in Prince Edward County. Surrounded by water, vineyards, and open sky, it creates a quiet moment away from the excitement of the day.
When Patrick turned around and saw Kerissa for the first time, everything slowed down for a moment.
These are the kinds of moments couples remember forever.
With everyone together, we headed straight into the vineyards for group portraits.
Prince Edward County vineyards in August are at their peak — lush green rows stretching across the landscape with Lake Ontario just beyond them.
The bridal party brought the energy.
Laughing, cheering, and celebrating every step of the way, the photos felt less like posed portraits and more like documenting a group of friends having the time of their lives.
Exactly the vibe Kerissa and Patrick wanted.
Before guests arrived, we took time to explore the grounds for intimate couple portraits.
One of the reasons couples choose Waupoos Estates Winery is the incredible variety of backdrops in one place. Rows of vineyards, waterfront views, rustic winery buildings, and open countryside landscapes
Kerissa and Patrick leaned into the relaxed energy of the day — walking through the vines, laughing together, and soaking in the moment.
The result was a set of portraits that felt completely natural and full of personality.
Guests gathered along the dock overlooking Lake Ontario for the ceremony.
The setting was breathtaking — open water, vineyard hills behind the winery, and a warm August breeze drifting across the lake.
But the ceremony had a twist.
Instead of traditional flower girls, flower men came down the aisle, throwing petals and instantly getting the entire crowd laughing and cheering.
It set the tone perfectly.
The ceremony itself was heartfelt, personal, and filled with moments of laughter — exactly what Kerissa and Patrick wanted.
And when they were finally pronounced married, the cheers echoed across the water.
The reception took place inside a beautifully styled tent on the winery grounds.
Details everywhere reflected the couple’s personality — including custom monogrammed drink toppers that dissolved into guests’ cocktails.
It was one of those small creative touches that guests loved.
Dinner flowed into speeches, laughter, and then one of the most entertaining grand entrance sequences I’ve ever photographed.
Every member of the wedding party came into the reception with their own wild, creative entrance, setting the stage for the couple’s arrival.
When Kerissa and Patrick entered, the entire room erupted.
Just before sunset, we slipped away from the reception for one of the best parts of any Prince Edward County wedding — golden hour in the vineyard.
August sunsets over the vineyards near Picton are something special.
The light softens, the vines glow gold, and Lake Ontario reflects the warm colours of the evening sky.
Kerissa and Patrick walked through the vineyard rows as the sun dropped behind the horizon, creating some of my favourite images from the entire day.
For couples planning a wedding in Prince Edward County, sunset photos here are always worth stepping away from the party for a few minutes.
Once the dance floor opened, things escalated quickly.
Kerissa changed into a second outfit — perfect for dancing — and the celebration turned into an all-out party.
At one point the bride was cartwheeling across the dance floor, and not long after that she dropped into the worm while the entire room cheered her on.
It was one of those receptions where no one wanted the night to end.
Exactly the kind of wedding where you can feel how much fun everyone is having — and those are the best weddings to photograph.
