There’s something timeless about photographing families at Bayfront Park in Hamilton—the open water, soft light, and gentle breeze create a calm and natural setting for portraits. For Doug and Amy’s family photo session, we met on a warm afternoon to capture their first portraits as a family of four: Doug, Amy, their one-month-old baby, and their lovable dog, Roscoe.
Even though their baby slept through almost the entire session, it didn’t stop him from stealing the show. There’s a special kind of sweetness in those quiet moments—tiny hands curled up, a peaceful expression, and parents who can’t stop smiling. Doug and Amy were relaxed and full of joy, and their easy connection made every frame feel natural and heartfelt.
Roscoe added his own brand of charm, happily joining in for family shots and curious glances toward his new baby sibling. Including pets in family photos always adds a real, personal touch—they’re such an important part of the story.
We wandered along the paths by the waterfront, stopping under the trees and near the shoreline for a few soft, golden-hour portraits. The combination of gentle light, loving expressions, and Hamilton’s scenic backdrop made for a gallery full of warmth and emotion.
Doug and Amy, thank you for letting me capture this special season in your lives. These early days with a newborn fly by so quickly, and I’m honoured to have preserved these first family memories for you.
