Rachel & Matt’s Romantic Engagement Session in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Rachel & Matt’s Romantic Engagement Session in Niagara-on-the-Lake
There are some sessions that feel like they could live inside a storybook, and Rachel and Matt’s Niagara-on-the-Lake engagement photos were exactly that. Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) is known for its winding heritage streets, soft lake breeze, and golden evening glow—and on this warm evening, it gave us everything.
Strolling Through Historic Old Town
We began their session wandering the historic Old Town. The boutiques and heritage buildings created a charming backdrop as we eased into the shoot. The soft, directional light bouncing through the streets instantly made the photos feel intimate and cinematic. NOTL has this incredible ability to feel both lively and quiet at the same time, and it set the perfect tone for the start of our session.
Sweet Moments in Simcoe Park
From there, we headed to Simcoe Park, one of my favourite spots for couples shoots in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The shade from the tall trees and the lush greenery created a peaceful pocket away from the bustle of the street. Rachel and Matt were so natural with each other, every laugh, every small gesture, felt effortless. It’s one of those places where the simplest movements turn into genuinely heartfelt images.
Golden Hour at Queen’s Royal Park
As the sun started dipping lower, we walked toward Queen’s Royal Park, which always feels a little magical. The lake was calm, and the sunlight skimmed across the water in that perfect late-day way. We got beautiful frames by the shoreline and tucked between the trees, where the leaves filtered the light into something warm and dreamy. Their photos here have that soft, quiet energy that makes NOTL engagement sessions so special.
The Iconic Queen’s Royal Park Gazebo
Of course, we couldn’t pass up the Queen’s Royal Park gazebo—a favourite for couples visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake. With the lake stretching out behind them and a gentle breeze catching Rachel’s hair, it felt like a scene out of a romance film. It’s classic NOTL, and it always delivers.
Ending the Evening by the Clock Tower
We made our way back toward the main strip just as the sun dipped lower, giving us that last burst of golden light. The warm glow between the buildings created a soft, romantic atmosphere that made the final images by the NOTL clock tower some of my favourites from the entire session. There’s something about those last minutes of light—when the town starts to quiet—that feels incredibly intimate.
A Perfect Evening in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Rachel and Matt’s session was everything an engagement photoshoot in Niagara-on-the-Lake should be—romantic, relaxed, full of laughter, and wrapped in incredible natural light. This beautiful town offers endless opportunities for stunning, heartfelt images, and it was the perfect place to capture their connection, and I’m so excited to cover more of their love and laughs at The Hare down the road next year!
